AO Patria mia
BRitorna vincitor

Celeste Boninsegna was an Italian dramatic soprano celebrated at the turn of the twentieth century for her Verdi roles, particularly Aida — both arias here are from that opera. The Columbia A5196 number suggests this is from the early acoustic period, around 1906–1909, probably a UK pressing of a continental recording. Boninsegna's early acoustic sides are collected by operatic record enthusiasts, and Columbia pressings of major Italian sopranos from this period are becoming harder to find.AI summary

Celeste Boninsegna was a celebrated Italian dramatic soprano of the early twentieth century, particularly admired for her Verdi roles. Columbia A5195 — 'Vissi d'arte' from Puccini's Tosca and 'Mi chiamano Mimì' from La bohème — is a fine coupling of two of her most representative arias. Boninsegna's acoustic recordings are collected by enthusiasts of early Italian operatic singing.AI summary
