Claude Thornhill was an American pianist and bandleader of the 1940s–50s, and his recording of 'Snowfall' and 'Under the Willow Tree' for Columbia represents his subtle, orchestral approach to popular song. His recordings are sought by jazz and popular-music collectors for their sophisticated arrangements and intimate sound.
