Emmy Destinn, a Czech soprano and one of the great international opera stars, recorded Wagner arias ('Elisabeth's Prayer' from Tannhäuser and Elsa's Air from Lohengrin) for Odeon. Destinn was a central figure in opera from the 1900s through the 1920s and was among the first major singers to be recorded.
