Ida Cox was one of the major classic blues singers of the 1920s, recording prolifically for Paramount in the United States. Her titles were licensed to Parlophone for UK release in the R-series of race records; this disc, catalogue a12024, would be a UK pressing of one of those American sides, making it of real interest to British blues collectors.AI summary

Ida Cox's 'Moanin' Groanin' Blues' and 'Lawdy Blues' on Harmograph 883. Harmograph was a very obscure British label of the 1920s, and UK pressings of American classic blues under such an imprint are genuinely rare. Cox was a leading Paramount artist; Harmograph was one of several small British labels that licensed or pressed US blues material in tiny quantities.AI summary
