Sam Mayo was a popular music-hall comedian known for his character songs; Mark Sheridan, credited on the B-side, was another well-loved hall performer famous for 'I Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside'. This Pathé pressing couples Mayo's 'Chinaman' with Sheridan's 'Goodnight'. Pathé issued many British music-hall sides and pressings are not unusual.
