General William Booth — founder of the Salvation Army — on Columbia 2075, coupling 'Please Sir Save Me' with 'Through Jordan.' Spoken-word records by major religious and social figures of the Victorian and Edwardian era are an uncommon collecting area, and Booth's public significance gives this historical weight beyond the gramophone market.AI summary

ARope Wanted
BDon't forget

General William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army, recorded 'Rope Wanted' and 'Don't Forget' on Columbia 2074 — one of the very few recordings attributed to Booth personally, made in his extreme old age before his death in 1912. This is a historically extraordinary document: the voice of the Salvation Army's founder on disc.AI summary
