Genre: Opera
Format: 78rpm shellac disc, 10 inch unless noted

A companion disc to 14582 from the same Danish Schallplatte series — Lauritz Melchior singing Siegmund's 'Friedmund darf ich nicht heissen' and 'Siegmund heiss ich' from Die Walküre on Schall 72867. These early Scandinavian pressings of Melchior in his prime Wagnerian roles represent some of the scarcest mainstream Heldentenor recordings in existence.

BSchwertlied

Lauritz Melchior was the pre-eminent Heldentenor of the twentieth century, and his early recordings for the Danish Schallplatte (Schall) label — before his HMV and Victor period — are among the rarest documents of his voice. Schall 72857 carries the Schmiedelied and Schwertlied from Wagner's Siegfried, core Melchior repertoire pressed in Denmark in very limited quantities.AI summary
